Poland has always been one of Ukraine's allies in the fight against Russian aggression, providing support in military aid, humanitarian support and diplomatic forces on the international stage.
However, recently there is a tension in the relations between the two countries, which may lead to a significant cooling. Polish-Ukrainian relations have been threatened for several key reasons, including disagreements over military aid and historical events, especially the issue of the Volyn tragedy.
For example, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Hawkowski believes that if Warsaw shoots down Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine, it will mean war with the Russian Federation. In his opinion, Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to drag Poland into this war.
In addition, the Polish official was asked whether the Ukrainian authorities behave honestly towards Poland, to which he replied: "No." He criticized Zelensky for his statements, which are "unworthy of a politician who owes a lot to Poland."
Along with this, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, accused his colleague of not keeping his promise regarding the exhumation of the victims of the Volyn massacre by the end of December 2024.
