Ukraine can expect a large amount of money to approach its budget. The European Council has decided to transfer about 3 billion euros of seized Russian assets to Kyiv, and this could happen as early as July this year.
EU leaders agreed that 90% of these funds will be directed to the Peace Fund, which finances the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Leaving only 10% to help rebuild the state after the aggression of the Russian Federation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Aja Lyabib, reported that the first tranche of these funds may arrive as early as July. She also noted that the process of unblocking funds from Russian assets has been completed, which will allow Ukraine to receive significant financial assistance.
Note that with the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, Western countries froze a significant amount of money belonging to the Russian Central Bank. These funds, amounting to about 260 billion euros, will now be sent to help Ukraine.
Some countries, in particular Estonia, offer to transfer all frozen funds of the Russian Federation directly to help Ukraine. Legal arguments do not stop them from this decisive step, considering it fair.
