As of January 1, 2025, the maximum amount of unemployment benefits in Ukraine has been increased to 8,000 hryvnias. This was announced by the State Employment Service, emphasizing the importance of adapting the labor market to new conditions.
The maximum amount of payments has been increased from 7,100 hryvnias in 2024 to 8,000 hryvnias. This is due to the tying of the amount of assistance to the minimum wage, which is also increasing. The new payments will allow the unemployed to retrain more effectively, undergo training or adapt to new challenges.
The State Employment Service notes that the increase in payments is not only a support for citizens, but also an investment in increasing their competitiveness on the labor market.
In addition to increasing unemployment benefits, the state encourages employers to create jobs for people with disabilities. The new compensations are:
- up to 120,000 hryvnias (15 minimum wages) — for employment of persons with the 1st group of disabilities;
- up to 80,000 hryvnias (10 minimum salaries) for persons with II disability group.
These programs are designed to reduce barriers to employment of people with disabilities and increase their integration into society.
According to representatives of the service, more than 2,000 people with disabilities were employed last year as part of this initiative. The total amount of compensation for employers amounted to 130 million hryvnias.
Experts believe that such changes will create fairer conditions on the labor market, encourage employers to be socially responsible, and provide new opportunities for people from socially vulnerable categories.
Employers can receive financial support for job creation while at the same time enhancing the image of their business.
