In the Snyatyn District Court of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a sentence was adopted in the case of a local resident who was found guilty of obstruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on mobilization measures. According to the case, the accused created a closed group in Viber's messenger, which disseminated information about the places of mobilization measures and routes of the movement of representatives of territorial centers of acquisition and social support (TCC). This allowed the evasion to avoid meetings with the military and hindered the effectiveness of mobilization measures.
According to the conclusions of the investigation, from October 20, 2023 to June 29, 2024, the participants of the chat published 40 such reports, which hindered the normal work of the CCC. The court found the accused guilty and concluded an agreement on the plea, imposing a sentence of 5 years in prison, which was replaced for a conditional period of 1 year.
This case is part of a broader problem about obstructing mobilization measures in Ukraine, which becomes especially relevant during the war. During 2024, other incidents were recorded when persons publicly urged protest actions against mobilization or disseminated information that could undermine the country's defense capability. The Supreme Court of Ukraine also considered cases of road overlap and seizure of authorities in order to avoid mobilization.
