The Ukrainian army is currently in a critical situation, where about 500,000 new servicemen need to be mobilized to adequately staff the units. Taras Chmut, head of the "Return Alive" foundation, announced this, stressing that the current level of staffing of combat units is significantly lower than the minimum required.
According to Chmut, the situation with the staffing of military units is significantly different from official reporting. In particular, infantry companies, which must be fully manned for effective combat, often have only 15-25 men, while the optimal composition should be much larger. Such a situation significantly reduces the combat capability of units and endangers the effective performance of front-line tasks.
Chmut emphasized that the previously announced plans to mobilize 160,000 people will not solve the issue of personnel shortage. He believes that these figures do not correspond to the real need of the army in the conditions of war. "To ensure defense capability and effectively deter the enemy, the Ukrainian army needs about 500,000 new soldiers," he said.
