The United States may give Ukraine medium-range missiles for F-16 fighters as part of a new $375 million military aid package. This was reported by Politico with reference to informed sources.
These missiles have the ability to hit targets at a distance of more than 100 kilometers, which will significantly expand the combat capabilities of Ukrainian pilots. The use of such weapons will help Ukraine to deliver precise strikes on Russian defensive positions, ammunition depots and other key targets without the need to approach the zone of action of Russian air defense systems.
It is planned that the new package of military aid will also include artillery ammunition, missiles and air defense equipment. However, while the package is not yet finalised, changes may be made before the official announcement.
Although the range of the new missiles does not reach the level that Ukraine sought, they will still provide a significant advantage on the battlefield. The new weapons will allow Ukrainian pilots to strike from a greater safe distance, which will complicate the operations of the Russian occupation forces in eastern Ukraine.
