The 53rd International Film Festival "Youth" has ended in Kyiv, which has traditionally become a platform for young filmmakers from around the world. This year's festival brought together filmmakers from 96 countries, and the Ukrainian film "Honeymoon" directed by Zhanna Ozirnaya won the Grand Prix.
Awarded films
The main award of the festival - the Grand Prix and the "Scythian Deer" - went to the Ukrainian film "Honeymoon". She also won a cash prize of $5,000. The best film of the International Competition was the work "All that we imagine as light" directed by Payal Kapadia from France, India, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, which received the "Scythian stag" and $2,000.
In the short film category, the Ukrainian film "We want to live here" by director Alexandrina Turkan won $2,000 and "Scythian deer". In the student competition, two films became the best: "Like a Butterfly" by the Israeli director Iris Gershon Nagar and the Polish film "Basya: Three Short Stories" by Mateusz Petrak. They were also awarded a cash prize of $2,000.
The victory in the documentary competition was won by the film "Flowers of Ukraine" directed by Adelina Borets, which received $2,000. The TEEN SCREEN program recognized the film "The Winners" by German director Zoleen Youssef, which also received $2,000. The winner of the national short film competition was the Ukrainian film "Storks Always Return Home" directed by Gala Kozyutynska.
About the festival
The Kyiv International Film Festival "Youth" was started in 1970 as a platform for the development of young filmmakers. The competition program includes debut feature and short films, as well as documentaries from around the world.
The festival lasted 9 days, from October 26 to November 3, and gathered about 6 thousand spectators. A total of 123 films from 44 countries were shown. 30 foreign guests and more than fifty representatives of the film industry visited Kyiv, which became a symbol of support for Ukraine in wartime conditions.
