Bad weather will cover Ukraine: forecasters predict snowfall, rain and gale force winds

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning about difficult weather conditions that will cover the country in the coming days. According to forecasters, a significant worsening of the weather is expected on November 20-24 due to active atmospheric fronts moving through the territory of Ukraine.

What is expected?

  • November 20 : the weather will begin to deteriorate in the western regions with intense rains and snowfalls.
  • November 21-23 : difficult weather conditions will cover most of the country.
  • November 24 : bad weather will shift to the eastern regions.

Main forecasts:

  • Precipitation in the form of rain and snow, which can be very intense in places.
  • Wind gusts of 15-20 m/s in most of the territory, up to 25-30 m/s .
  • In the Carpathians, heavy snowfalls and blizzards are expected, the formation of a snow cover with a height of 20-50 cm .
  • In the rest of the territory of Ukraine, with the exception of the southern regions, a snow cover of 3-15 cm .
  • Ice on the roads and wet snow sticking in many regions.

Forecast for Kyiv and the region

Forecasters warn of a significant deterioration of weather conditions in Kyiv and the Kyiv region from November 21 to 23 . Heavy rains with transition to sleet, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s . Ice will form on the roads, which will greatly complicate the movement of motor vehicles.

The formation of snow cover in Kyiv can reach 3-10 cm , which will also contribute to the emergence of emergency situations on the roads.
