German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Egger said in an interview with the TSN channel that as long as the war continues in the east of Ukraine, the country's membership in NATO is unrealistic. According to his words, there is a consensus both within NATO and among the government of Ukraine that until the conflict is resolved, Ukraine's candidacy for joining the alliance will not be considered.
"There is a consensus in NATO, and I think here in Ukraine with the government of Ukraine, that membership in NATO is unrealistic while the war continues," the diplomat said in an interview with TSN.
Speaking about how the war could end, Yeger said that the West will not give instructions to Ukraine. But at the same time, he spoke out against "Minsk-3" - that is, the freezing of the war on the front line.
"We will not give any instructions to Ukraine. If there are any negotiations, we will stand by Ukraine. There will be no "Minsk-3". Germany strongly supports President Zelensky's peace formula. We consider this an appropriate approach to end this war," the ambassador said.
