Law enforcement officers have submitted to the court an indictment against a current deputy of the Kyiv City Council, who is accused of abuse of office and embezzlement of more than 300 thousand hryvnias of budget funds.
As reported by the Kyiv police, at the time of the crime, the woman headed a charitable foundation that rented a communal space with an area of 168 square meters in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital.
According to the terms of the contract, the organization had the right to buy out this property. To reduce the amount that had to be paid to the city, the deputy initiated the implementation of so-called "inherent improvements" - repair works, the cost of which was artificially inflated.
After that, she not only privatized the premises at a reduced price, but also received compensation from the budget in the amount of 300 thousand hryvnias, explaining this by "repair costs."
Investigators have collected enough evidence to take the case to court. The deputies are charged with crimes under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on embezzlement of property and abuse of power.
The court must now determine the punishment.
