In Spain, the former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense of Ukraine Oleg Gladkovsky (in the past - Swinarchuk) was detained. It is reported by the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
Detention was made possible by the international search announced in criminal proceedings against corruption crimes. The issue of its extradition to Ukraine for further investigation is currently being resolved.
Gladkovsky is one of the key figures of a defense scandal that exploded in 2019. At that time, investigative journalists published data on large-scale abuse in the field of defense procurement, in which, according to their statements, the then President Petro Poroshenko was involved. In particular, it was an overestimation of prices, the supply of smuggling components and the theft of state budget funds.
Gladkovsky himself repeatedly denied his guilt, declaring political persecution. At the same time, NABU and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor's Office insist that the evidence collected is sufficient to prove the prosecution.
Now the Ukrainian side is cooperating with the Spanish law enforcement officers for as soon as possible extradition of the extent.
