In Ukraine, about three thousand graduate students, which entered in 2023, have already been released from higher education institutions. And this is not the end: after the summer sessions in June, the number of calculated will increase. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vinnytskyi has informed about it in a comment on the news.Live.
Vinnytsky explained that the deduction was the result of checks conducted in higher education institutions throughout the country. According to him, the Ministry of Education and Science is not intended to calculate for the sake of statistics, but insists on the purification of graduate studies from those who are not actually engaged in scientific work.
"It is not about hunting witches. If the graduate student conducts research, writes articles, works on the dissertation and passes the exams - he is quietly studying further. If not - the postgraduate study is not for him," the official said.
He also added that observations show that most of the graduate students who have entered in 2022–2023 are likely to not be protected by theses.
Earlier in the MES announced innovations: the introduction of mandatory exams in Ukrainian and foreign languages for graduate students and doctoral students in the third year. This should be a kind of check that the applicants really undergo an educational component of postgraduate studies and work on their research.
