On Friday afternoon, Odesa was shelled twice by Russia with missiles. A paramedic and an employee of the State Emergency Service, who went to the scene after the first explosion to provide help, died.
Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced this.
A series of loud explosions occurred in the city during the air raid.
The head of the OVA informed that people were injured during the attack, and rescue services went to help them.
But in the next address, he noted that there was a second rocket attack at the place where doctors and emergency workers were providing assistance.
"Unfortunately, the Russian rocket attack killed a paramedic and an employee of the State Emergency Service, who arrived at the scene after the first explosion to provide assistance," Oleg Kiper emphasized.
There are also seriously injured among the medical and rescue personnel. According to preliminary data, 20 people were injured, including 5 rescuers of the State Emergency Service, the rescue stations reported. All victims are provided with the necessary medical assistance.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged as a result of the missile attack by Russia. A fire broke out at the site of the attack.
Rescuers of the State Emergency Service immediately went to the scene and started extinguishing the fire and rescue operations.
At this time, Russia attacked with rockets for the second time, as a result of which one of the rescuers died.
The strike also damaged 10 private houses, a service station, a gas pipeline and two fire and rescue vehicles. About a week ago, when President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Odesa to meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Russia also launched a missile attack.
Zelensky said that he was with Mitsotakis at the time of the attack, and the explosions happened nearby. The incident resulted in human casualties.
After night drone attacks on Odesa on March 2, 12 people died, including 5 children.
