The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent in Odessa, who collected the coordinates of Ukrainian military facilities and tried to find weaknesses in the city's air defense. A 21-year-old resident who was looking for "light money" in Telegram channels, got into the field of view of Russian special services and was recruited for spying.
According to the investigation, the agent transmitted information on the location of spare command points and administrative buildings of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Its main task was to identify radar stations of the Armed Forces to help the occupiers to bypass the air defense during rocket attacks. To do this, he installed hidden cameras near military infrastructure.
He placed one of these cameras directly opposite the entrance to the SBU administrative building, removing the movement of employees and sending a video to Russian curators.
The SBU counterintelligence found a traitor, documented his activities and conducted a special operation on detention. During the searches, he was seized camcorders, flash drives, a mobile phone and several SIM cards, which he regularly changed for conspiracy.
On the basis of the evidence collected, the man was suspected under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - State betrayal committed in the conditions of martial law. The court sent him into custody, and he threatened to confiscate property.
This is not the first case of exposing enemy agents in Ukraine. Earlier in Transcarpathia, a spy was condemned for 13 years, which in the first days of a full -scale invasion was transmitted to the special services of the Russian Federation on the critical infrastructure of the region. In his apartment, more than 200 units of ammunition, cash in rubles and Russian bank cards were found.
The SBU calls for citizens to be vigilant, to report suspicious actions of persons near military and administrative facilities and not to be proposed to pay for doubtful Telegram channels, as such "work" may end with a lifelong term.
