In the Parliament of Portugal on January 9, the ceremonial opening of the exhibition "New Military Awards of Ukraine" was held, which was presented by the Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Augusto Santos Silva. Pavlo Sadokha, the head of the Union of Ukrainians in Portugal, informed about this in his post on Facebook.
The exhibition is the result of a joint project of the Portuguese historian Humberto Nuno de Oliveira, together with the Tallinn Museum of Chivalric Orders and the National Museum of Ukraine in the Second World War. It presents the history of Ukrainian military awards in the form of a historical research book with a list of Ukrainian heroes awarded the highest state awards.
Pavlo Sadokha emphasized that for the first time a publication was presented in the parliament, which recognizes the Ukrainian insurgent army as an important military statist structure that fought for the liberation of Ukraine. This event is regarded as another victory over Russian propaganda.
The organizers of the exhibition were the Chairman of the Ukraine-Portugal Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Socialist Party MP Diogu Leão, and the Chairman of the National Security Committee, Marcos Perestrello. In his speech, Perestrello emphasized that the heroic struggle of Ukrainians against Russian aggression changed the view of the political elite of the EU countries on the protection of national interests. It is noted that the main goal of the EU now is to provide assistance to Ukraine in achieving victory in this conflict, which is actually a war for peace in all of Europe.
The exhibition will last until January 12 and will be open to the public at the Sau Bento Palace.
