The Government of Ukraine plans to carry out a large-scale check of citizens who have issued the status of persons with disabilities over the past three years. This was stated by People's Deputy Ruslan Horbenko on the air of the "Evening.Live" program.
"300 thousand. We definitely won't be able to create such a number of expert groups to conditionally check a thousand people with disabilities per day. I understand that somewhere within two years the task will be set to check those people who received this disability in the last three years," said the deputy.
According to the people's deputy, it may be about tens of thousands of people who illegally obtained such a status.
"Approximately 40 thousand - conditionally - illegally received this disability. This is about 30%, if we take men only. I think these expert groups will understand that if a man does not have a limb, he should not be examined," he added.
Horbenko noted that false disability can refer to the presence of a prosthesis, when a person allegedly had some kind of surgery and this is confirmed by an X-ray, although a "double" could pass it. In his opinion, in the first year of such checks, 75-80% of such cases will be detected.
Registration of disability in Ukraine
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the number of people with disabilities among Ukrainians has increased by 300,000. This statement was made by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine, Oksana Zholnovych. She stressed that in reality there may be more people with disabilities.
It should be noted that against the background of a number of corruption scandals in the structure of the MSEK, as well as dozens of cases of disabilities among employees of state bodies, the MSEK in Ukraine was dissolved. In their place, teams will work to assess the functioning of individuals.
