As part of the initiative to restore tax revenues, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to introduce a tax on international parcels worth up to 150 euros. This was announced by the chairman of the tax committee of the parliament, Danylo Hetmantsev. This initiative has sparked lively discussions among businesses and consumers, as it will affect the cost of imported goods.
"The allowance for 150 euros should be removed. And now we are finishing the preparation of the relevant draft law, we will introduce it, we will not delay and we will definitely implement it, despite a certain section of the population that will be dissatisfied," Hetmantsev said.
According to him, taxation of parcels is demanded by both retail chains and domestic manufacturers.
"There can be no distortions in taxation, because it has a destructive effect on the markets. And in this case, we support a foreign manufacturer for some reason. Because our producer of goods - from light industry to food - pays VAT, and whoever does it in China does not pay VAT. From the point of view of state tax policy, it is absolute nonsense and nonsense when we beat people who create jobs, pay taxes, create added value, for the benefit of people we don't even know," the deputy emphasized.
Hetmantsev said that he would personally ask to support the law.
