In the Kiev region, law enforcement officers detained a 66-year-old US citizen who has been hiding from justice for more than three decades using counterfeit documents. The man has been searched by US intelligence services since 1992 for a series of sexual crimes against minors.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The operation was conducted for coordination of Ukrainian prosecutors and in close cooperation with the Cyber Police, FBI and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
According to US investigators, in the period from 1984 to 1991 the detained worked as a director of kindergarten in Pima district, Arizona. It was then that he committed a number of sexual crimes against four children aged 4 to 9 years. Even before the sentence of the state of Arizona, the man fled the country from the country, having drawn up fake documents in the name of the Mexico citizen, and since then disappeared from the field of view of American law enforcement.
It was possible to detect its location through an analysis of digital traces in open sources. In the territory of Ukraine, the attacker lived in a private house in the Kyiv region, using fictional questionnaires.
After identifying the person, Ukrainian law enforcement officers searched at their place of residence and detained the suspect. The prosecutor's office is currently preparing a petition for the election of temporary arrest. This is a necessary step before resolving the issue of extradition of a man to the United States.
As it is noted, the US competent authorities have charged 15 criminal law points that cover sexual crimes against children. If it is extraordinary and found guilty, the detainee is threatened with life imprisonment under the laws of Arizona.
The official date of trial of arrest and extradition has not been made public.
