In May 2024, VAKS seized an elite apartment belonging to the wife of Ilya Vityuk, ex-head of the cyber security department of the SBU and a brigadier general. Vityuk is a suspect in investigations into his activities in the SBU.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau informed the media about this in response to a journalist's request.
NABU noted that they are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the facts of possible laundering of property obtained through criminal means. As part of this investigation, detectives are checking the circumstances of the purchase of this apartment by the Vityuk family.
"The prosecutor made a corresponding request due to the presence of sufficient grounds and well-founded suspicions to believe that this apartment may be subject to special confiscation in cases provided for by the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the bureau reported.
NABU also added that they had not received any requests from NAKC regarding the seizure of this apartment.
