Life expectancy is not only affected by nutrition, pressure or smoking. As a recent study by scientists from the United States and the United Kingdom, there are two more factors that seriously increase the risk of early death - sleep disorders and diabetes of the second type of diabetes.
The research has covered more than 500,000 middle-aged people, and its results were the first to be: scientists from Northwestern University at Chicago and Surrey University have analyzed the combination of diabetes and poor sleep as a double risk.
As noted in the press release, published on the Eurekalert platform, people with diabetes of the second type, who still have problems with sleep, have 87% higher risk of premature death compared to those who do not have such problems. For comparison, diabetics without sleep disorders increased by only 12%.
The term "bad sleep" researchers imply not only lack of sleep, but also difficulty falling asleep, intermittent sleep or apnea syndrome in a dream - short -term respiratory arrest.
Scientists urge doctors to be more serious about complaints about poor sleep, especially among people with chronic diseases. At the same time, they emphasize that prevention of sleep disorders should be started at a young age, as it can be a critical factor in maintaining life expectancy.
