The Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine initiated the closure of the Gambling and Lottery Regulation Commission (KRAIL), transferring its functions to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. People's deputies Yaroslav Zheleznyak ("Voice") and Oleksiy Goncharenko ("European Solidarity") announced this on April 3.
According to Zheleznyak, the decision should be based on two draft laws - government drafts No. 9256 and No. 9256-1, which he personally introduced.
"Tomorrow, our committee will meet and vote for the draft law on the termination of KRAIL activities. The functions will be transferred to the Ministry of Digitization," stated Zheleznyak's message.
He also added that the draft law will contain provisions aimed at strengthening the punishment for illegal advertising and the introduction of an online monitoring system, which, however, "no one is afraid to violate".
In addition, the people's deputy from "Voice" published a fragment of the agenda of the next meeting of the committee, which mentions the report of the head of the Ministry of Digital, the deputy prime minister for innovations, development of education, science and technologies Mykhailo Fedorov. Goncharenko also announced the closure of KRAIL and warned lobbyists from the gaming business not to try to stop this process.
"I appeal to all casino lobbyists in the Council. It's not worth even trying," he wrote, promising to reveal the names of colleagues from the parliament who are going to make it difficult to close the commission.
