On May 9, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading a draft law on increasing fines for violations of mobilization and military registration. This initiative, which provides for a significant increase in fines for evaders, was supported by 256 people's representatives. Now the draft law is awaiting the signature of the head of the Verkhovna Rada and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, People's Deputy from the "Voice" party, explained that the parliament supported the draft law amending the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses in connection with the violation of mobilization. He also noted that all the changes promised by the committee, aimed at mitigation, were introduced, and many negative norms were excluded.
The bill provides for the following amounts of fines:
- For violation of military accounting rules: from 3,400 to 5,100 hryvnias, for repeated violation or in a special period - from 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias;
- For violating the law on defense and mobilization in peacetime: from 5,100 to 8,500 hryvnias for citizens, from 17,000 to 34,000 hryvnias for officials and legal entities;
- For violation of the legislation on defense and mobilization in wartime: from 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias for citizens, from 34,000 to 59,500 hryvnias for officials and legal entities.
This law will enter into force one month after it is signed by the President of Ukraine.
