Relations between Ukraine and Great Britain are experiencing a crisis after the Labor Party came to power. According to The Guardian, sources in the Office of the President of Ukraine express disappointment with the refusal of the British government to provide additional long-range missiles, which are so necessary for the conduct of hostilities against Russian aggression.
The position of the new Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, differs from the policy of the previous government of Rishi Sunak. Kyiv, in particular, has expressed displeasure at the lack of support in the form of new Storm Shadow deliveries, which Ukrainian diplomats say makes Starmer's visit to Kyiv meaningless unless agreements are reached to restock the critical weapon.
"Starmer doesn't give us long-range weapons. The situation is not the same as during the prime ministership of Rishi Sunak. Relations have worsened," OP sources said, adding that if the British prime minister does not promise to improve support, his visit may be perceived as a formal gesture that has no real impact on the situation at the front.
Currently, the uncertainty in Britain's position calls into question whether the Starmer government will be able to impress Kyiv and restore the level of trust that existed under the previous government.
