Ukrainian aviation services will need a month to prepare for the start of passenger transportation, subject to obtaining permission for flights. Such a statement was made by the head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Bilchuk. According to him, the airports in Kyiv and Lviv have managed to keep their staff, so it will take only three weeks to prepare for receiving planes. Foreign low-cost carriers have already expressed their willingness to enter the Ukrainian market, but experts warn that resuming flights will be a big challenge. Many pilots working abroad may not return, and those who remain in Ukraine risk losing skills and qualifications due to lack of flying.
Bilchuk emphasized that in order to resume commercial flights, it is necessary to implement a sales system and pass an audit of airports. He also warned of the decline of Ukrainian airlines, which are important to the country's economy, and called for risks to be reduced to an acceptable level according to international standards before resuming flights.
The State Aviation Service conducts airspace analysis to determine safe flight routes, and also assesses airport security. The resumption of civilian flights by Ukrainian airlines depends on several factors, including the security of airports from possible missile attacks, certification of airport infrastructure, the insurance mechanism and the readiness of airlines to operate in high-risk conditions.
