Military units in Ukraine received a new important authority — the ability to mobilize reservists and conscripts who voluntarily wish to serve during mobilization. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umyerov. This decision was the answer to the numerous requests of brigades, which have long needed a more flexible tool for high-quality volunteer recruitment.
Thanks to the government decree, commanders of military units will be able to organize the mobilization process without unnecessary delays, which will significantly reduce the time of recruiting new servicemen. The Minister of Defense noted that the new mechanism will contribute to a more targeted approach to mobilization, taking into account the wishes and skills of volunteers.
"This resolution is a tool that allows you to significantly reduce the time of recruiting and ensures that everyone will be able to join where his or her desires and skills coincide with the needs of the defense," Rustem Umyerov emphasized.
According to the new rules, commanders of military units will have the following powers:
- issue a referral to the military medical commission (MMC);
- to equip combat units with volunteers.
In addition, conscripts and volunteer reservists get the opportunity to independently choose a military unit for service, without turning to territorial recruitment and social support centers. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will determine the list of units to which it will be possible to join.
We will remind you that the Cabinet of Ministers recently made changes to the procedure for enlisting citizens for military service during mobilization. Innovations give commanders of military units the right to send conscripts to the VLK to determine their suitability for service.
In addition, in October of this year, a new recruiting service will be available in the "Reserve+" application of the Ministry of Defense. Thanks to this update, users will be able to familiarize themselves with current vacancies in the military units of the Armed Forces, which will allow them to find a place for their future service faster.
