Russian occupying forces continue to try to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the east of Ukraine, in particular in the Donetsk region. Heavy fighting is taking place near the town of Vugledar, where, according to the serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Kyryl Sazonov, the situation is becoming more and more critical. On the air of the "Kyiv24" channel, he reported on the intensity of the enemy's attacks in this region.
"The last few days were very difficult, the enemy concentrated all his efforts on Donetsk region, trying to advance in all directions, as it was in 2022. They pulled everything they could — both equipment and manpower," Sazonov said.
The situation was particularly tense in the Kurakhiv direction, where the enemy had been trying to advance in recent days after unsuccessful attempts to capture Pokrovsk and Myrnograd. According to Sazonov, the Russians are shelling these cities, but further movement in this direction is impossible for them. "They are fighting for small pieces of territory, but they cannot achieve significant success," the soldier added.
However, the heaviest battles are fought around Ugledar. The invaders are attacking from two sides, which poses a threat to the logistics of Ukrainian troops. "The boys are holding on, but the situation is very difficult," said Sazonov.
In addition, Russian troops are actively trying to break through to Kurakhovo, in particular, by storming Gostre and entering from the north. The defense of this direction is complicated by the fact that the territory consists mainly of steppes, which gives the enemy a certain advantage in battles.
The Ukrainian military continues to defend key positions, despite the intense offensive of the enemy and the critical situation in some regions of Donetsk region.
