After the shruging attack of "Shahaneda" on the Dnieper on March 28, which burned down the banquet hall of one of the most famous establishments of the city-the Bartolomeo restaurant and hotel complex, its owner Valery Shamotivty announced the collection for recovery. However, such an initiative caused a wave of criticism among Ukrainians.
In the post on the official Instagram page of the complex, the administration announced the consequences of the attack and thanked the employees for the prompt evacuation of the guests. The main emphasis was on the fact that they were casualty and called for citizens not to ignore air anxiety. And at the end of the appeal - a request for help:
“Today we turn to anyone who is indifferent to Bartolomeo - a business card of the Dnieper. We do not give up, we will recover. But we need your help. "
In the comments under the publication, a real indignation exploded. Many Ukrainians did not understand why the millionaire's elite business is being restored when a full -scale war is underway in the country, and hundreds of volunteer initiatives raise funds for drones, cars and rehabilitation of wounded military.
“What about the army, volunteers, the victims are civil? Are you serious? ” - users were outraged. Others emphasized that Bartolomeo was not a shelter, not a hospital or a home for displaced persons, but a profitable private business that brought a stable income to the owner.
Indeed, Valery Shamotiv is one of Ukraine's most influential businessmen. He is in the TOP-100 richest Ukrainians, is the president and co-owner of the Logos Corporation, the chairman of the supervisory board of the Corporation "First National Wine Holding", and has such brands as Tavriya, Alexx and Inkerman. Therefore, to demand financial assistance from citizens, in particular those who barely make ends meet during the war, it looks at least inappropriate.
Despite public outrage, the fee was not canceled. The bank with the details was left in the comments, but the wave of criticism only increases. What the story will end - time will show, but one thing is obvious: even during the war, Ukrainians remain attentive to justice and are not ready to put up with cynical attempts to replace public solidarity with financial parasitism.
