The mayor of Brovary, Ihor Sapozhko, said that the state of tap water in the city remains stable and meets all sanitary standards, despite the recent pollution of the Desna River.
The water supplied to the residents of the Brovary community meets all regulatory standards. The mayor announced this in his Telegram channel.
"According to the information of KP "Brovaryteplovodoenergia", the company conducts daily monitoring laboratory studies of the state of water in the city water supply.
As of September 16, the quality of the water supplied to the homes of Brovar residents fully complies with regulatory standards," Ihor Sapozhko wrote.
The mayor added that detailed reports on water quality are published twice a day on the social media page of KP Brovaryteplovodoenergia, and called on community residents to trust only official sources.
The discharge of sewage from a sugar factory in the city of Tyotkino, Russian Federation, caused the pollution of the Seim River, which flows into the Desna, with organic substances, which led to a mass death of fish.
Due to biological contamination of the water in the Seimas and Desna, the State Inspectorate reports the catch of 17 tons of dead fish and estimates the damage at over 200 million hryvnias.
And on the ninth of September, the spot of pollution in the Desna River had already reached Chernigov, there was an unpleasant smell and fish plague.
According to ecologists, now it takes 2-3 years to restore the ecosystems of the rivers Seim and Desna.
According to the Ministry of Environment, polluted water from Desna could reach Kyiv region on September 14-16.
