The Kalusky City District Court of Ivano-Frankivsk region found a driver guilty of trying to bribe a police officer while issuing a report for drunk driving. This is stated in the verdict in case No. 345/6213/24.
The incident occurred on October 6, 2024 in the village of Golyn, Kalusa district. At about 17:07, law enforcement officers stopped the driver of a Citroën with obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. The man refused to undergo a medical examination and, having learned about the preparation of a report under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, decided to "negotiate".
He placed three $100 bills on the dashboard of a company car — a total of 12,366.06 hryvnias at the NBU exchange rate — and verbally offered an improper benefit in exchange for not being prosecuted.
The policeman refused the bribe, reported the incident to 102 and called the investigative and operational team. An administrative report was also drawn up on the spot.
In court, the accused fully admitted his guilt, sincerely repented, and contributed to the disclosure of the offense. The court took into account both the mitigating circumstances of repentance and cooperation with the investigation, and the aggravating circumstance of committing the offense while intoxicated.
Under Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the driver was fined 17,000 hryvnias. Three $100 bills were confiscated as state revenue. In addition, the man was charged 4,775.4 hryvnias for the costs of technical examination of documents. The court canceled the arrest of the seized property imposed on October 8.
The verdict can be appealed to the Ivano-Frankivsk Court of Appeal within 30 days.
