On Wednesday, February 7, the parliament supported Yulia Laputina's resignation from the post of head of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. The decision received the support of 302 people's deputies during the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
People's elected representative Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this, noting that all the speakers expressed their dissatisfaction with Laputina's work, and the social policy committee noted the unsatisfactory level of the Ministry's activity.
Yulia Laputina herself did not appear at the meeting. Deputy Roma Lozynskyi, who has his own experience of hostilities and has every right to dialogue with the Minister of Veterans, expressed his disappointment at her absence.
Yulia Laputina submitted her resignation to the Verkhovna Rada on February 5. Previously, the general public expressed demands for the resignation of the minister, noting the inefficiency of the administration of veterans' affairs. In November 2023, the public council under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a demand for Laputina's resignation, expressing dissatisfaction with the ministry's management activities. Non-governmental organizations and the families of the victims also expressed their support for the demand for Laputina's resignation.
The Public Council under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that Yulia Laputina avoided participating in the meetings of the specialized committee where important legislative initiatives were discussed, instead actively appearing in the media.
In addition, according to the Accounting Chamber, facts of inefficient use of budget funds by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs were discovered, which led to a significant budget deficit. Members of the Public Council stated that during the three years of Laputina's rule, it became obvious that the department does not meet the expectations of veterans and is not able to gain their trust.
