Water is the foundation of health: why it's important to drink enough

Doctors emphasize that the daily volume of fluid depends on many factors - physical activity, body constitution and weather conditions. For women, the norm is from 1 to 1.8 liters per day, for men - from 1.3 to 2.2 liters. Insufficient water consumption can lead to serious health problems.

Dehydration can disguise itself as hunger. If you constantly feel like snacking after a meal, your body may be trying to hold onto fluids. In such cases, you might want to try drinking a glass of water first – this may help to reduce your hunger.

Not drinking enough water can contribute to headaches. Water can help relieve discomfort and reduce the need for painkillers. If you are already feeling very thirsty, it means that you are severely dehydrated.

Water is essential for normal digestion. Insufficient fluid intake slows down the passage of food through the digestive tract, which can cause constipation and increase the risk of hemorrhoids.

In hot weather and during exercise, dehydration can lead to heat stroke – weakness, dry skin, and fever. In such cases, it is necessary to drink plenty of water and consult a doctor.

The human brain is 80% water, so even mild dehydration can negatively affect concentration and memory. Severe dehydration can manifest as confusion.

Not drinking enough water increases the workload on the heart, which can cause a rapid heartbeat. To help your body, it is recommended to start your day with a glass of water.
