The absolute world champion in professional boxing in the heavyweight division, Oleksandr Usyk, has promised to pay Ukrainian boxers significant prize money for medals won at the 2024 Olympics.
Usyk plans to arrive in the French capital today to support the Ukrainian national team. On Monday, the London 2012 Olympic champion will take part in an event organized by the Ukrainian House in Paris.
Before the start of the 2024 Games, Usyk met with the Ukrainian Olympic boxing team, presented the athletes with envelopes with cash prizes and promised solid prize money for medals. In particular, Usyk is offering $80,000 for a gold medal, $70,000 for a silver medal, and $50,000 for a bronze medal.
