Today, Orthodox Christians honor the memory of Archbishop Cyril of Jerusalem. It is customary for believers to pray for health and healing from illnesses. In the folk calendar, this day is known as Cyril's Day, when peasants began spring work and nature awakened after winter.

Our ancestors believed that on March 18, one should not cut down trees, trample grass, or harm nature - this could bring misfortune. Also, one should not consume meat and dairy products on this day, since Lent is in progress.
Weather changes were associated with folk signs:
- If the starlings don't arrive that day, the frosts will last for a long time.
- If ducks dive into the water, it will soon get warmer.
- The first flies and mosquitoes - to a rich harvest of berries and mushrooms.
- If the birches have turned green, then spring will be early and warm.
