Autumn diet: what to eat to avoid gaining weight and strengthen immunity

Autumn is a time when the body needs more vitamins and energy, and excess calories accumulate faster. A proper diet helps maintain weight, strengthen immunity, and stay energetic during the cold season if you replace heavy food with seasonal vegetables, add enough protein and healthy fats, and don't forget about exercise.

The basis of the menu should be made of seasonal vegetables and fruits: pumpkin, carrots, beets, apples, pears and cabbage saturate the body with fiber, antioxidants and vitamins, but do not add extra calories. They are great for soups, casseroles or salads - so the vegetables pleasantly "warm" and at the same time give satiety.

Equally important is protein. Eggs, fish, chicken, legumes, and low-fat dairy products help repair cells, maintain muscle mass, and keep you feeling full longer, reducing the temptation to overeat in the evening. Pair protein with vegetables and slow-digesting carbohydrates to make your meal more filling.

Warm drinks aren't just about comfort: green tea, herbal infusions, or ginger tea with lemon can slightly reduce appetite and boost metabolism. They also support immunity, especially when used in place of sugary drinks and excessive coffee.

Portion control helps prevent weight gain: instead of three large meals, you can have 5–6 small ones, maintaining energy throughout the day and reducing the risk of overeating. It is important to listen to hunger - eat when your body really asks, and not "out of habit."

Healthy fats—nuts, avocados, olive oil—are nothing to be afraid of: they are filling and help your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins from vegetables. Add them to salads or as light snacks in moderation.

Despite the cooler weather, water remains key: 1.5–2 liters per day is optimal. We feel less thirsty in the fall, but dehydration slows down our metabolism and makes us feel worse, so keep a bottle handy.

And finally, exercise. Long walks, light workouts, or yoga help burn calories, lift your mood, and strengthen your immune system. Diet and activity work in tandem: without exercise, it's harder to achieve the desired shape and tone.

The autumn diet is not a set of prohibitions, but a balanced approach: seasonal products, sufficient protein, healthy fats, a drinking regime and physical activity. Such an approach will help maintain weight, energy and health during the most vulnerable period of the year.
