October this year is traditionally full of significant dates: from state celebrations and professional holidays to international educational and social events. This month attracts the attention of society: there are honoring soldiers, gratitude to doctors and teachers, and days dedicated to the protection of rights and health.
On October 1, the country celebrates several important events at once - the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, Veteran's Day and the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks, while Orthodox believers celebrate the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos; in the international calendar, this day is also dedicated to the elderly. At the beginning of the month, on October 4, the world celebrates Animal Day, and on the fifth - Territorial Defense Day, along with Teacher's Day, when it is worth congratulating teachers. October 6 is International Doctor's Day, October 8 is Lawyer's Day, and October 9 is World Post Day.
Then, throughout October, there are several professional dates: the tenth is reserved for workers in standardization and metrology, the eleventh for workers in the pulp and paper industry, the twelfth for workers in the state sanitary and epidemiological service, as well as Artist's Day and Trade Union Day. Among international and social events, October 15 is especially distinguished - World Breast Cancer Day, and October 18 is the European Day against Human Trafficking. October 19 is Human Responsibility Day and Food Industry Workers' Day; October 20 is All-Ukrainian Breast Cancer Day. At the end of the month, October 27, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, October 28 is the Day of the Liberation of Ukraine from Nazi Invaders, and October 31 is the International Black Sea Day worldwide.
As for working days and weekends in October, Saturdays and Sundays of this month fall on the 4th–5th, 11th–12th, 18th–19th, and 25th–26th — these are standard weekends. If the country lived in peace, October 1 could be an additional day off in connection with Defenders' Day, but in conditions of martial law, the position on official days off for public holidays may differ.
