In Ukraine, teacher salaries vary depending on the type of educational institution, region, and other factors. The average salary for teachers in public schools is between 10,000 and 15,000 hryvnias per month, while in private schools it is higher, 20,000-25,000 hryvnias, assuming a full workload. Teachers with many years of experience and additional responsibilities can earn more.
In public educational institutions, the level of wages depends on the following factors:
- Work experience — teachers with more experience can earn higher salaries due to higher pay grades.
- Class teacher - additional payments are provided for performing the duties of a class teacher.
- Additional payments for the prestige of the profession - in some regions, local authorities provide additional payments to teachers.
- City budgets - teachers in large cities such as Kyiv and Lviv often receive additional bonuses or supplements.
According to the comment of teacher Artur Proydakov, winner of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2021, if a teacher works full-time, has experience and additional responsibilities, his salary can fluctuate within 10-15 thousand hryvnias in public schools.
The situation looks better in private schools. Here, the average teacher salary is 20,000–25,000 hryvnias under full-time employment. Private educational institutions usually offer competitive salaries to attract qualified specialists. In addition, teachers can participate in various extracurricular projects, Olympiads, or competitions, which provides an opportunity to earn extra money.
Teachers' salaries also depend on where they work. In large cities, teachers earn more due to bonuses and additional payments from local budgets, while in smaller settlements, salaries are often lower due to limited local budget resources.
