Today, June 17, there are no official national holidays in Ukraine. However, this day is full of religious, cultural and environmental events, both on the church calendar and internationally.
Church holiday
On June 17, the Orthodox calendar honors the martyrs of Manuel, Ismail and Savelia. They pray for harmony in the family, understanding between loved ones and reconciliation with those with whom the relationship has ruined. The old style also has the Day of Remembrance of St. Mitrofan Constantinople.
In the church tradition of this day, restrictions also apply. Faiths are not advised to envy, revenge, condemn others, refuse help or break Petra fasting for no good reason.
Holiday in the world
At the international level, June 17 celebrates International Karate Day - Martial Arts, which became not only a sports discipline, but also a way of self -improvement. This day is also devoted to the issues of ecology: there are events to fight drought and desertification, as well as Crocodile Day.
In a number of countries today it has a separate value. For example, in Iceland - Independence Day, in Romania and Armenia - Aviation Day, in Latvia they remember the victims of Soviet occupation, in Spain spend a day of Tapas, and in the USA - the Day of Apple Studel.
Folk traditions
On June 17, the folk calendar was considered a favorable day for cleaning in the home and getting rid of unnecessary things. People sought to tidy up in space around them. At the same time, there was a belief that unclean power is being activated that day, so it is not necessary to get involved in disputes or conflicts.
Signs
A number of weather signs are also preserved. If the sky is red in the west - to wait for a strong wind. If the apple trees have not bloomed - the summer will be long. Cicad stream indicates the approach of heat, and the appearance of a rainbow after the rain - to dry weather at the end of the month.
