The European Commission will announce a new strategy for the defense industry, including the integration of Ukraine and the creation of an innovative defense office in Kyiv, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said during a press conference in the capital.
"We seek to support Ukraine's defense efforts with our own. That is why we are developing a new strategy for the defense industry, which we will present in three weeks. This is an important step in the direction of Ukraine's integration into our defense programs," Von der Leyen emphasized.
She also noted that the European Union is going to use the experience of the Ukrainian military gained on the battlefield. In order to strengthen cooperation, the EU will open an innovative Defense Office in Kyiv.
"We will fulfill our obligations in defense support," she added.
The prime ministers of Italy, Canada and Belgium, as well as the former prime minister of Great Britain, also arrived in Kyiv on February 24 to express solidarity with Ukraine on the second anniversary of the Russian invasion.
