At a press conference dedicated to the problem of captive mercenaries from the countries of the Global South, the spokesman of the "I want to live" project, Vitaly Matvienko, announced that the project was successful, noting that the total number of visits to the site exceeded 49 million.
Matvienko said that the number of requests for the project is constantly increasing, especially from the Russian military. According to him, more than 33,000 appeals have been received so far, but there are more than 270 people who have surrendered, but their names have not been released for security reasons.
The total number of visits to the site is more than 49 million, of which 45 million are on the territory of Russia.
The spokesperson of the project noted that 50 to 100 appeals are received every day, and this number depends on the situation at the front.
Matviyenko emphasized that Russia actively involves mercenaries from other countries in the war against Ukraine, and called on them to use the "I want to live" project for voluntary surrender and save their lives.
Petro Yatsenko, representative of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, added that after the termination of the activities of the Wagnerites and other groups of prisoners supported by the Russian special services, there has been a significant increase in mercenaries from other countries. In particular, according to the Center of National Resistance, tens of thousands of citizens of Asian and African countries are fighting on the side of the Russian army, most of whom are recruited from Syria, Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Congo, Egypt and the countries of Central Asia.
