Deputy Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Forgot" to declare almost 49 million hryvnias

The National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) conducted a check of the declaration of Gennady Pogorelov , Deputy Head of the Regional Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, and found false information in the amount of UAH 48.8 million .

According to the NAPC, the official indicated false information on real estate located both in Ukraine and abroad:

  • Land in Nikolaev (524 sq.
  • The apartment in Yalta (119.1 square meters), purchased in 2012 - the declared cost of 461 thousand UAH, but not provided documents confirming the amount.
  • Garage in Yalta (31 square meters) - the cost of UAH 118.5 thousand, but there are no documents.
  • Apartment in Antalya (119 square meters), Turkey - the declaration indicated UAH 1.39 million, but the NAPC could not confirm its real market value, area and registration number.

The audit revealed discrepancies in the data on vehicles that Pogorelov owns or uses:

  • Volvo XC 40 , registered with a wife. The official noted that the car in 2021, purchased on January 12, 2022. However, the registers stated that the car of 2022 was purchased, and it was purchased on January 13, 2022.
  • Skoda Octavia A7 , which Pogorelov uses free of charge. The declarant indicated the wrong VIN code, which may indicate an attempt to substitute information or manipulation of car registration.

The official also declared expensive Swiss watches - Vacheron Constantin Genève and Breguet 1480, explaining that they were received before the first submission of the declaration. However, no documents for their purchase or gift were provided. Pogorelov himself claims that it is a gift from the family.

The NAPC revealed inconsistencies in the declared financial assets of the official. He indicated large amounts of cash as well as Bitcoin cryptocurrency assets, but their origin remains unknown.

What is known about Gennady Pogorelov?

The official was born on July 20, 1964 and since 1989 worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He passed a career path from the Inspector of the DPS in the Nikolaev area to leadership positions in the departments of GAI of the Nikolaev and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Subsequently, he went to work at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Regional Service Center.

Despite the violations found, there is currently no official information about the consequences for the official. Law enforcement agencies have not yet commented on possible investigations into the origin of property and financial assets of Gennady Pogorelov.

Experts emphasize that the situation requires verification by NABU and other anti -corruption bodies, as detected violations may indicate possible illegal enrichment or evasion of declaration of real income.
