Ukraine has begun preparing a scenario for the parliament's work in the event of a protracted war. The president has instructed to develop an appropriate action plan if hostilities continue for several more years.
This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in the government.
According to the publication, the issue is about preparing the Verkhovna Rada to function in conditions of a possible extension of the war for another three years. Representatives of the parliamentary majority have already received a corresponding task.
The plan is being developed by Andriy Motovylovets, deputy head of the Servant of the People faction. It is expected that the document will provide for the adaptation of the work of the parliament to a prolonged war period.
Details of the future plan are not yet disclosed. At the same time, it is clear that it concerns the organization of the legislative process, the stability of decision-making, and ensuring the work of state institutions in the context of a protracted conflict.
Against the backdrop of the preparation of a long-term war scenario, the parliament is also discussing the political consequences of such a development. We previously reported that the Rada is considering the option of postponing the elections for several more years . This is due to both security risks and the lack of ready-made legislation for holding elections in wartime. At the same time, as experts note, during martial law, elections cannot be held at all, which actually forces the authorities to look for long-term models of state functioning without election campaigns.
