After the successful signing of a security agreement with Great Britain, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi expressed hope for the conclusion of similar agreements with other countries. Currently, Ukraine has started negotiations with Romania regarding the conclusion of a bilateral security agreement.
President Zelenskyi believes that the signed agreement with Great Britain provides additional confidence during protection against Russian aggression and consolidates Ukraine's strong security position until its accession to NATO. Noting that Great Britain became the first country with which such an agreement was concluded, the president urged to continue working with international partners to ensure safe growth of Ukraine.
According to the press service of the President's Office, on January 13, negotiations with Romania on concluding a bilateral security agreement began. Romania became the ninth country that started such negotiations and expressed support for Ukraine's independence, territorial integrity and European path.
It is worth noting that the agreement signed with Great Britain on January 12 provides for Ukraine's support in current and possible future conflicts with Russia, in particular, regarding military aid. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the agreement is mutual, and Ukraine is also ready to defend its ally and partner in case of need.
