Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with a Ukrainian TV channel, expressed concern about the lack of mobilization following the recent tightening of the mobilization law. He noted that despite all measures, Ukraine has not yet reached the desired level of preparedness necessary to ensure stable defense capabilities against the backdrop of a war with Russia.
“We really didn’t mobilize enough people after the law was passed… The norms of the law on mobilization need to be adjusted,” the president said.
He denied rumors that Ukraine mobilized half a million people after the law was passed. “Nobody mobilized half a million,” Zelensky said.
In this regard, he stated that the replenishment of brigades is taking place slowly. "In the east, there are exhausted brigades, rotation is needed. The guys are getting tired, leaving. We have to replace them with fresh armed units," Zelenskyy said.
He called the situation in eastern Ukraine "really difficult" and acknowledged that "there is slow progress by the Russians for various reasons.".
Among other reasons, he cited delays in weapons deliveries, with some types of weapons being a year behind schedule.
