Zelensky: Ukraine has no intention of creating a nuclear threat to the world

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that the country never planned to develop nuclear weapons, saying that Ukraine has other priorities in the field of security and defense. These words came against the backdrop of growing tensions around nuclear security in the context of the war with Russia.

The president called the information about Ukraine's plans to create nuclear weapons "a throwaway". It will be recalled that the German Bild wrote about it.

At the same time, Zelenskyi said that nuclear weapons could protect Ukraine.

"I believe that Ukraine should be in NATO and the argument is that during the Budapest memorandum we gave away nuclear weapons and guaranteed our security. If Ukraine did not give up nuclear weapons, it would be the same "umbrella" that other nuclear states have," the president said in an interview with the telethon.
