In his evening address to the Ukrainian people on March 18, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported on the key events of the day.
At the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the head of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi presented the main directions of action.
"Our positions are in the Kupyansk direction, in Donetsk region and in the southern directions. Regarding the supply of ammunition, I can confirm that logistics in the army has become noticeably more efficient," the president noted.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategy and Industry presented reports on contracts for the supply of weapons and ammunition both from foreign partners and domestic production.
"We plan to reach a record level in the Ukrainian military-industrial complex this year, as well as constantly increase this potential from year to year - this is strategically important for Ukraine. The government also reported on the state of construction of fortifications - all necessary resources are guaranteed," added Zelenskyy.
In the section on international relations, the president noted several important aspects of cooperation with other countries. "Today I had a conversation with the president-elect of Indonesia. We appreciate the positive ties we already have between our countries. The Ukrainian peace formula was first presented in Indonesia, and now it is becoming more and more global, involving countries from all over the world to work together. We are preparing to hold the first Global Peace Summit," the president said, inviting Indonesia to join him.
Zelenskyi also mentioned the visit of Senator Lindsey Graham, a representative of the Republican Party, to Ukraine. "We discussed the importance of the victory of freedom and democracy in this war, as well as in Ukraine, because otherwise Russian aggression will spread. I informed the senator about the situation at the front and the basic needs of our troops. We also discussed further support for Ukraine," he said.
In the end, the president thanked the leadership of the European Union and all the member states for the creation of a new Fund for assistance to Ukraine within the framework of the European Peace Fund in the amount of 5 billion euros, which will be directed to support the defense of Ukraine in the current year. Zelensky expressed hope that this Fund will become an important component of the general security agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
