Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban informed the leaders of the European Union about Volodymyr Zelenskyi's positive beliefs about the prospects of a military conflict between Ukraine and Russia. According to a source familiar with the content of the letter, Orban emphasized that Zelensky believes that time is on Ukraine's side in this war.
Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán wrote about this in his letter to EU leaders after meeting with Zelenskyi, a source in diplomatic circles familiar with the content of the document said.
"As for the outcome of the war, the president of Ukraine is sure that the Russian armed forces will be forced to resort to general mobilization in the middle of next year, which will lead to internal destabilization. He believes that the Ukrainian forces are stable, prepared and capable of maintaining combat effectiveness even in the long term, if Western arms deliveries continue. He believes that time is on the side of Ukraine, and not on the side of Russia," the letter says.
At the same time, Orban notes that Putin's assessment of the situation is diametrically opposed.
The President of the Russian Federation believes that time is on Russia's side.
"The Russian president's interpretation of the current situation on the front line is significantly different from the interpretation of President Zelensky: according to Putin, time is not on the side of Ukraine, but on the side of the Russian troops. President Putin did not mention the victims of Russia. As for Ukrainian losses, according to the Russian president, the monthly losses of Ukrainian troops amount to 40,000 to 50,000 soldiers, which have increased even more in recent weeks. Therefore, Putin was surprised that the President of Ukraine rejected the temporary ceasefire (it was Orban's proposal - Ed.). According to the President of Russia, the Russian Federation is ready to consider any proposal for a ceasefire that will not serve the covert movement and reorganization of Ukrainian troops," the letter reads.
