The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, at the meeting of the UN Security Council, emphasized his firm position against conducting negotiations with Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that dialogues with Moscow, as a rule, do not lead to constructive results and can only prolong the war.
"This war can't just 'subsist'. That is why this war cannot be calmed down with talk. Necessary actions... Russia can only be forced to peace. And that is exactly what is needed - to force Russia to make peace," said the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky's main opinion was that the war can end only on the basis of the "peace formula" proposed by him.
"There is only one way to a just peace - clear steps that are still understood, and this is reflected in the 'peace formula'," he said.
"We know that some people in the world want to talk to Putin. We know that. Meet, talk, talk. But what can they hear from him? How upset is he that we exercise our right to protect our people? Or that he wants to continue the war and terror, so that no one will think that he made a mistake?", the president said.
It will be recalled that Zelenskyi's "peace formula" provides for the withdrawal of all Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine and the payment of reparations by Russia to Ukraine. Moscow does not accept this "peace formula" and refuses to discuss it.
