The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that the provision of long-range weapons to the Ukrainian army could change the course of the war with the Russian occupation forces.
Zelenskyy told journalist Bruno Vespi about this during an interview for the Italian TV channel Rai 1. In particular, the president was asked whether it would be possible to change the course of the war if all the promised weapons arrived in Ukraine, and Germany handed over its long-range missiles.
Zelenskyi said that Ukraine promised not to use long-range missiles on any territory, except for the temporarily occupied parts of Ukraine by Russia. "We have a shortage and lack of various ammunition, including long-range ammunition. After all, when you have such a deficit, our goal is to de-occupy our lands and end the war. And having a strong weapon sometimes, you know, you may not be able to use some weapons because certain enemy troops are afraid if you use this or that weapon. They are leaving," Zelenskyi said.
The head of state spoke about an example of what Ukraine managed to achieve in the Black Sea, when the Russians began to lose many ships and moved their fleet away from Russian territorial waters. "The same example could change what you asked about - and the progress on land, the progress of the war on the ground. If you have the appropriate weapons and you can respond to the Russian army, which uses long-range weapons in your civilian cities, for example, in Kherson. They stand on the other bank of the Dnieper. And their range is stronger than ours. They fire artillery over 20 km, and we have an artillery projectile up to 20 km. And imagine, if you have a long-range weapon, you can knock them out further. And they themselves, they are inexperienced people, many of them are afraid. And if our weapons would reach there, they would also leave," Zelensky emphasized.
The president emphasized that long-range weapons can change the course of the war and help Ukraine move forward.
