Yesterday, May 17, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, approved a bill amending the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These changes are aimed at strengthening responsibility for committing military offenses, in particular, for violating mobilization laws.
According to the specified law, the amount of fines for various types of violations will be significantly increased. For example, fines for violations of military records, such as failure to enter or update data in a timely manner, will increase to 5,100 hryvnias in peacetime and 25,500 hryvnias in wartime or for repeated violations.
An increase in fines for violations of defense and mobilization legislation is also provided, in particular, for refusal of a summons or failure to appear for it at the Territorial Military Commissariats. For example, fines for citizens will increase to 8,500 hryvnias in peacetime and to 25,500 hryvnias in wartime.
These changes were adopted in the context of the continuation of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine, which was approved by the Verkhovna Rada on May 8. Thus, martial law remains in force for another 90 days, namely until August 11, 2024, which is already the 11th vote for its extension.
