Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to leave the village of Lastochkine near Avdiyivka, Donetsk region, in order to avoid blocking logistical routes and preserve their personnel.
This information was provided by a serviceman of the 24th OSB "Aidar", who uses the pseudonym "Osman", in his Telegram message.
"We had to retreat from the village in order to prevent the blocking of important routes and to preserve our positions," the message reads. The soldiers noted that the situation in the village itself was not as critical as on its flanks, which were under the control of the enemy.
It will be recalled that earlier it was announced that Ukrainian troops would retreat from Avdiyivka on February 17 in order to avoid encirclement, after which they moved to new defensive positions. This information was confirmed by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"Taking into account the situation around Avdiyivka and with the aim of preserving the lives and health of our soldiers, I made a decision to withdraw our troops from the city and move to defense in more advantageous positions," said Sirskyi.
It was later reported that a third separate assault brigade had moved to the outskirts of Avdiivka to prepared positions and leveled the front line. During this period, the military destroyed more than 1,500 enemy fighters, but the Russian forces do not stop the offensive and continue to attack.
